Okoumal offers a dry, sophisticated woody-amber character with distinct tobacco leaf undertones, a soft musk vibration, and a velvety texture that adds a palpable volume and warmth to compositions.

It adds volume, warmth, and longevity to woody, amber, and oriental compositions in fine fragrances and functional perfumery.

Okoumal has the scent of warm, dry wood wrapped in soft amber and snuff. It is not a very intense scent; in fact, some people cannot perceive its scent at all on its own. However, when added to a composition, its effect is undeniable: warmth, volume, and richness seemingly emerge from nothing.

This is one of those rare ingredients that works stealthily. Use it in low doses to fill out woody and amber bases, adding fullness and an expensive-smelling roundness. It lasts over 420 hours on a blotter, more than a month, making it one of the most tenacious fixatives on the market. Do not evaluate it alone, but in blends.

Combine it with cedarwood for a rich woody depth, with patchouli and vetiver for a dark, earthy warmth, or with sandalwood materials for a smooth, enveloping base. A small amount goes a long way; start with trace amounts and increase until you feel its effect in the body of the composition.
