Isopropyl Myristate (IPM)
Isopropyl Myristate (IPM) contributes almost no odor to your compositions and functions purely as a technical perfume material. This clear, free-flowing liquid effortlessly dissolves lipophilic fragrance materials while remaining entirely transparent to the nose. Its exceptional spreading properties ensure rapid absorption without the sticky residue common with other solvents.
You'll find IPM excels in oil-based fine perfumes where alcohol cannot be used, beard oils, and solid perfumes. It allows the perfume to penetrate the skin better, while paradoxically also increasing its perceived intensity through controlled dilution – a synergistic effect unique among perfumery solvents. Unlike DPG's tendency for stickiness or TEC's hydrophilic nature, IPM imparts a dry, elegant feel throughout use.
