Ambroxan is probably the most popular chemical in perfumes today. It has undergone significant development, from its 10% use in Firmenich's classic Fixateur base to becoming the central wood/amber component in many perfumes.

Favored by many perfumers for its warm, musky-amber scent and lasting depth, Ambroxan was originally developed to mimic the scent of natural ambergris, but has since been valued for its stable and strong diffusion. Ambroxan adds richness, promotes diffusion, and acts as a strong anchor that lingers on the skin. Its dry amber quality can also enhance or extend other notes in a composition, giving the perfume both vitality and longevity without overpowering more delicate components.

Ambroxan offers a dry, woody-amber aroma with distinct mineral facets, marine-like undertones, and a persistent, radiant character, creating an elegant, long-lasting foundation in fragrance compositions.

It provides a sophisticated fixative in fine fragrances; excellent in woody, amber, marine, and modern compositions across gender categories.

Ambroxan adds warmth, volume, and sweetness to all types of fragrances, even in small amounts. It also provides remarkable diffusion in the top notes and excellent longevity in the base notes.
