Methyl Isoeugenol

Product Information:

It has a sweet-warm, spicy, woody, slightly floral and tea-like character; it is used as a base note and fixative in spicy and floral perfume compositions for all purposes. It is preferred as a common alternative to heavily restricted isoeugenol. It is stronger than eugenol acetate but less lasting; it is not as vanilla-like as methyl diantilis and is more spicy. It is useful in clove/carnation style bases to support clove bud oil; its fixative properties contribute significantly to both compositions of this style and more spicy structures.

Arctander states:
"Among the common derivatives of Eugenol, it is one of the most similar to Clove/Carnation in scent. This phenol ether is used in perfume compositions as part of Carnation bases, as a fixative in spicy fragrances, and to give a slight spice texture in Rose, Ylang-Ylang, and other floral notes. It is widely found in various versions of 'L'Origan' type perfumes, in oriental fragrances, and blends very well with amber-like materials such as Labdanum, woody notes, and ionones. It forms interesting combinations with Opoponax or Linalool or Linalool derivatives."
