A powerful floral aroma, Hexyl Cinnamic Aldehyde is the foundational building block of the most famous muguet bases and is found in perfumes such as Eau Sauvage (1966), Gabrielle (2017, Chanel - example formula below), Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue (2001) and Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille (2007).

When creating a jasmine base, Hexyl is preferred over its close relative Amyl Cinnamic Aldehyde because the Hexyl version is sweeter and more floral. Hexyl Cinnamic Aldehyde softens the harsh character of Benzyl Acetate and other strong jasmine chemicals, providing a light, elegant, unisex floral heart note.

Hexyl Cinnamic Aldehyde is liquid at room temperature, but it can solidify at lower temperatures. It can be returned to liquid form with a little heat. Importantly, Hexyl Cinnamic Aldehyde can sour quite quickly, so it is recommended to buy small amounts frequently rather than large quantities and to store it in the refrigerator.

Hexyl Cinnamic Aldehyde offers a fresh, floral, jasmine-like scent enriched with distinct waxy, green, and oily undertones; it is also supported by subtle herbaceous, sweet, and spicy nuances.

It is an essential floral building block with excellent fixative properties for jasmine, muguet, gardenia, and tuberose accords.
