Geranium Oil (Bourbon)

Product Information:

Bourbon geranium or rose geranium is native to South Africa, but was transferred to the island of Réunion (known as Île de Bourbon between 1665-1793) by French colonists in the 1840s after natural disasters decimated the coffee industry in 1806 and 1807. Over time, the island's importance in international trade diminished, and most Bourbon geranium is now produced on the neighboring island of Madagascar; this essential oil also comes from there.

Our Bourbon geranium essential oil has the scent quality closest to what the great perfumers of the 20th century particularly loved for its balanced and easily manageable green and floral scent. It is a significant note in many of the earliest fougère perfumes.

Geranium Bourbon Oil offers a rich, rosy-green aroma with distinct minty-herbal notes, subtle citrus undertones, and a sophisticated geranium character that balances floral richness with fresh aromatic nuances.

It imparts a versatile floral-aromatic character to elegant perfumes; excellent in fougère, chypre, and oriental compositions.
