Black Agar Givco is one of the most popular substitute bases for agarwood (Oud). It is a remarkably bright interpretation of the natural oil and features elegant nuances of olibanum and amber, which makes it an especially good blender.

Black Agar Givco is built around a high dose (around 9%) of Amber Format (Oxyoctaline Format) highlighted by natural materials such as patchouli oil, amyris wood, cedarwood, labdanum, frankincense, and guaiac wood.

Agarwood is a classic material used in perfumery. When this tree is infected by fungi, it forms dark streaks loaded with fragrant oleoresin. The darkest, black or true agar, resembles black stone due to its intense oil impregnation. This resin is highly prized for its rich, complex, strong, woody-ambery scent. However, it is a hard-to-find, extremely expensive material.

Black Agar Givco is a new base reflecting the typical odor of the black resin of agarwood. This complex and strong formula with a resinous character brings together olibanum and balsamic/oriental notes.
